The problems of life are often complex. You do your best at work but are held back because of your race or gender. You try to be a good parent, but the school your children attend will not honor the IEP they need to thrive. Attorney Alex Gerard understands the difficulties people all too often face. As a civil litigator, he thrives in complex, high stakes matters where the playing field is anything but level. His practice spans a wide range of civil litigation, including, administrative law disputes, trust and estate litigation, discrimination and harassment in the workplace, advocacy in the schools, and, when the unthinkable happens, domestic violence protection orders. While he maintains focused areas of practice, Alex is not hesitant to step beyond traditional boundaries when a case demands it—particularly for individuals who feel they have nowhere else to turn.
At his core, Alex is an advocate for people overwhelmed by systems far larger than themselves, whether those systems take the form of corporations, institutions, insurers, or bureaucracies designed to wear people down. He believes injustice thrives when good people look away, and his work is driven by the conviction that someone must stand between everyday individuals and those who would otherwise seek to overpower them. For clients facing powerful opponents, Alex brings clarity, strategy, and determination to navigating the often dense and unforgiving world of litigation.
Alex has been an advocate for the underdog since before graduating from law school. He worked with multiple human rights organizations. Since then, he has secured six-figure awards for individual clients and played key supporting roles in litigation against school districts that resulted in multi-million-dollar recoveries. His work reflects a consistent commitment to holding powerful institutions accountable and pursuing meaningful results for those who might otherwise be overlooked.
Alex earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington and his Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law. Outside the courtroom, he enjoys hiking and staying active through sports such as tennis, soccer, flag football, and mixed martial arts—activities that reflect the discipline, endurance, and focus he brings to his legal practice.
When the odds are stacked against you, Alex is the kind of lawyer who steps forward.
